According to Siteefy there are over a billion websites in the world, with hundreds more created every minute. Standing out from a crowd that large when someone searches the web is a challenge. Google is miles ahead of the competition in number of users, with the first three results it provides getting most of the clicks. Reaching the top of that list is what Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO, is all about.
Of course, you can skip the queue with a paid advert, but most people ignore these. Instead, they click on the “organic” results, so taking the time to boost your ranking may well be more effective.
Make sure that the contents of your website gives people accurate, relevant information. “High quality” content plays a huge role in your search ranking, so put your potential customer’s needs right at the centre of what goes on your site.
Most people won’t read all of your website. Time is in short supply, so speed things up with clear page titles, short paragraphs and imagery that reinforces the text. Give visitors a positive experience by guiding them to what they need and you’ll improve your ranking.
Not only do you need relevant content, you need regular content. Making sure your website stays fresh shows both Google and your visitors that you are open for business.
